Newly renovated address in California's San Bernardino National Forest joins Marriott International's exclusive portfolio of upscale, independent hotels.
October 1, 2013 (Lake Arrowhead, California) - Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa recently reinvented itself as the very first member in Southern California of the prestigious Autograph Collection, Marriott International's exclusive portfolio of upscale, independent hotels. Located 90 minutes from Los Angeles at 5,106 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest, the newly renovated, lakeside resort is the only hotel in the area to offer privileged access to scenic Lake Arrowhead.
Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa's conversion to Autograph Collection follows an extensive $5.5 million renovation that uplifted the historic property with a fresh new look and lakeside luxury ambiance, including a new color scheme and contemporary furnishings with mountain flair. One thing that hasn't changed: stunning views of Lake Arrowhead or surrounding mountainsides from each of the resort's 162 guest rooms and 11 suites.
The renovation is really a revival for the legendary resort, which sprang to life in 1923 as the Arlington Lodge, a half-million-dollar address catering to affluent guests. The resort quickly drew bright-light celebrities from Hollywood and beyond searching for a rejuvenating retreat. Many films were shot there for the picturesque backdrop. Just for You, starring Bing Crosby, Ethel Barrymore and a young Natalie Wood, was filmed at the Lodge in 1952; I'll Take Sweden with Bob Hope, Frankie Avalon and Tuesday Weld, followed in 1965; and A Summer Without Boys with Michael Moriarty, Barbara Bain and Kay Lenz employed the Lodge as a backdrop in 1973.
