Marriott Syracuse Downtown Awarded Four Diamonds by AAA

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Nov. 1, 2017

Just over a year since its highly anticipated opening, Marriott Syracuse Downtown has earned AAA's prestigious Four Diamond rating. The distinction is shared by less than six percent of the nearly 28,000 AAA-approved properties nationwide. Managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, the luxury iconic hotel debuted in downtown Syracuse last year on Aug. 19, 2016, following a meticulous multiyear $76 million restoration of the landmark 1924 building, once home to Hotel Syracuse.

"To attain the AAA Four Diamond award and be the only hotel in the city of Syracuse to have accomplished such a feat requires tremendous collaboration from ownership and management," said Michael George, CEO of Crescent Hotels & Resorts. "We're proud of the team at Marriott Syracuse Downtown and are pleased for the city of Syracuse to have an official AAA Four Diamond Hotel."

"We are thrilled to be recognized by AAA with this significant achievement. It's a resounding testament to the work and vision that our team has devoted to bringing a hotel for the 21st century to life in the footprint of one of last century's grandest," said Ed Riley, Marriott Syracuse Downtown's owner.

The new hotel has introduced two great restaurants to downtown Syracuse - the signature, wine-driven Eleven Waters and the sports-friendly Shaughnessy's Irish pub. The original building's 600 guest rooms have been reduced to 261 more expansive rooms, with stylish furnishings and high-tech amenities to accommodate the expectations of today's travelers.

Among the beautifully restored spaces is the second-floor lobby, presided over by a magnificent 1948 mural that depicts historic milestones from Syracuse's first 100 years. Others have been returned to the splendor that once made them the center of Syracuse social life: the majestic Grand Ballroom and the Persian Terrace, once a supper club for acts like Cab Calloway, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. Countless other famous names have graced the hotel over the years, ranging from Charles Lindbergh to Presidents Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Jimmy Carter to John Lennon.
